Wilson High School was founded in 1987 as a program for students in Sumner County to make up deficiencies during the school year in the evening as an alternate to the traditional Sumner school program. E. B. Wilson High School began as a part-time school with classes being taught by teachers in the Sumner County School System.  E. B. Wilson soon developed into a full-time high school offering diplomas with its first graduation taking place in 1993.
